Jikwoyi Community Outreach

On September 4, 2016, MAISCEF carried out an outreach in Jikwoyi, a semi-urban community of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory. The outreach was sponsored by Maidunama sickle cell foundation in partnership with the Sisters of the Nativity (SON) Hospital, Jikwoyi. A total of 25 sickle cell patients were identified  and given medication that will last them three months. A major outcome of this outreach was the partnership relationship entered into by MAISCEF and the hospital (SON) to run a sickle cell clinic in the hospital in addition to holding a Sickle Cell Support Group meeting for every month in the (more…)

Kabusa Community Outreach

To mark the World Sickle Cell Day in 2016, MAISCEF launched an outreach at Kabusa, a community settlement in the heart of Abuja. Sponsors for the activity included the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC);  Rotary Club of Lugbe; Federal Housing Authority (FHA) – who donated insecticide-treated nets; Sustainable Health Care Initiative (SHCI); as well as several individuals who contributed cash and drugs including Hajiya Ramatu, Hajiya Aisha Candido and Miss Nonye Ejikana. Kagarko Community Outreach

The Community Outreach for Kagarko, Kaduna State, took place on 30th March 2016.   The venue for the outreach was the primary health care centre Kagarko. A total of 75 SCD children were attended to, counseled and given free routine drugs which include Multivitamin, Folic acid, Pain relievers and Cellod -S. (more…)

Abuja IDP Camp Outreach

In the wake of the Boko Haram crisis that led to the displacement of thousands of people from their original homes in North-east Nigeria, MAISCEF on the 19th of December, 2015 carried out a massive outreach to one of the camps that emerged in Abuja for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs),  to give them a feel of the the festive season. Several persons were tested for genotype and malaria. Out of the lot, three sickle cell patients were identified   and registered into the fold of the NGOs for care and treatment support while those who tested positive to malaria received appropriate (more…)

Garki Community Outreach

Garki is one of the oldest indigenous communities from which Abuja in the Federal Capital Territory has grown out of. In 2015, MAISCEF had the opportunity to take an outreach into this Community right in front of the Emirs palace. The outreach was supported by green world supplements (more…)

Kagini Outreach/Visitation

On 8th Dec 2014- MAISCEF visited Guragu village in Kagini where all the settlers are physically challenged either with leprosy or polio. Five sickle cell patients were identified and registered with the NGO. The outreach was supported by Lion Club of Abuja and the Green world supplement. (more…)

Rikkos Community Outreach

Rikkos is small but densely-populated community in far away Plateau State of Nigeria which has not not enjoyed much development or public attention in its lifetime. This was where MAISCEF travelled to on February 1, 2014 to carry out massive Community Outreach where a total of 236 sickle cell patients were identified and catered for in addition to several success stories that were recorded on that day. Gwagwa Community Outreach

In November 2013, MAISCEF carried out a community outreach in Gwagwa, a small local settlement in the outskirts of Abuja metropolis. The exercise was sponsored by the Old Students Association of Federal Government School  within and around Abuja. Hundreds of  persons had genotype test including the emir of the Community and his wives. A total of 30 sickle cell patients were identified and added to MAISCEF database from through which they have continued to receive care from the foundation. Mabushi Community Outreach

As part of the maiden FCT Sickle Cell week that took place on June 2013, MAISCEF  in partnership with the Public Health department of Health and Human Services Secretariat FCT, carried out a Community Outreach in Mabushi village, a settlement in the outskirt of Abuja. A total of 20 sickle cell patients were identified and given free routine drugs. The community also benefited from free distribution of Indomie – courtesy of Dufil (producers of Indomie Instant noodles). Technical support for the design and implementation of the outreach also came from Global Health and Medical Consultants. (more…)
